Hydro One HR Shared Services is the face of HR Services to all Employees, Managers, and the HR team. As a single point of contact, we aim to provide accurate answers, consistent and professional service, and timely resolution to HR related inquiries and issues. This position resides within the HR technology area and serves as a liaison between HR, IT, and system providers to provide systems support, analysis, and to leverage HR technology solutions to meet the needs of the organization.

 

The Manager, HR Technology will implement the HR technology strategy and roadmap including providing, but not limited to building business cases for new solutions, justification for new technology, and projecting maintenance growth on existing platforms. You will work collaboratively with leadership and stakeholders across the organization to facilitate the identification, design, and implementation of innovative and integrated HR system solutions with a focus on transparency, enablement, process efficiency and user experience. You will provide technical expertise, support, and solutions in the utilization of all human resources information systems and applications across the HR team, including advising on system impacts when organizational policy changes are being considered.  This role also requires an intimate understanding of business systems, a strong drive to meet deadlines, and the ability to deliver in a high-growth environment. 

 

Project Management and System Optimization - 40%

  • Adept at project management you will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring that HR technology projects are kept on track and that all projects are delivered on time and on budget.   This will involve developing excellent relationships with multiple cross-functional project teams including outside vendors as well as functional user groups.
  • Responsible to review functional specifications and ensure that system change requests do not impact current functionality.  Using your in depth knowledge of SAP/Success Factors, proactively identify vanilla or minimal customization approaches to meet business demands and improve process efficiency for our end users.  Design cost effective solutions to business challenges.
  • You will work directly with our HR customers and HR functions to design processes and procedures, which will improve effectiveness and efficiency.  In addition you will support and mentor the HR Technology Business Analysts, in creating solutions to improve efficiency related to HR systems and information.
  • You will partner with other members of the HR team at times leading projects and at other times supporting your team in accomplishing systems initiatives.
  • You will actively search out and challenge your team to look for opportunities for process improvement through probing and anticipating the needs of our HR customers and HR functions, providing insight into how technology can improve their processes.

 

System Support, Upgrades, Day to Day Administration - 30%

  • Ensure the team develops and maintains system documentation, accurate data dictionaries, statements of work for all data integrations with vendor systems or internal Hydro One systems and adequate governance documentation.
  • Ensure that system maintenance is performed regularly and the upgrades and testing of new functionality meets acceptable standards and follows change management protocols. 
  • You will ensure that day-to-day proactive maintenance of the HR Systems is planned throughout the year.  Oversees numerous system upgrades annually for SAP and Success Factors.   

 

Security, Data & Training - 20%

  • Ensure the integrity of a system access framework that adheres to established access management standards and procedures, and documented processes, workflow, and methodologies for end-user provisioning and access management for HR systems. 
  • Ensure confidentiality of Human Resources related information and data and compliance with all applicable policies and laws, provincial and federal guidelines, and reporting requirements to government agencies.
  • Responsible for overseeing quarterly audits of security systems access.  Ensures audit protocols and standards are adhered to.
  • Assesses data related issues and training opportunities.  Creates strategies to improve overall system accuracy. Designs and implements training for users across Canada.

 

People Management - 10%

  • Staff, lead and develop a team of HR technology business analysts that will create business solutions, tools, reports and metrics that will be utilized to communicate to all levels of the organization. They will also be responsible for developing the Subject Matter Experts for the systems supporting HR function.
  • Responsible for balancing the project work plans to ensure that deadlines are met and that work demands of the team are realistic.
  • Assesses training opportunities, ensures development and coaching of team.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Computer Science, Business, or related fields or equivalent professional education/experience is required
  • 6+ years of HR Technology leadership experience with at least 3-5 years of HR project management
  • PMP Certification is a plus
  • Proven experience with large-scale HR transformation initiatives
  • Full-scale HR technology change management experience
  • Proven experience in all phase of the implementation lifecycle in HR systems projects.
  • Proven ability to manage heavy workloads and prioritize time efficiently when faced with multiple projects
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including communication, decision making, facilitation and influence at all levels. Strong customer service focus to clients across all levels of the organization
  • Team player - willing to pitch in when needed to help on projects, tasks and initiatives; enjoys working in a collaborative environment
  • Results driven - commits fully to the job and is dedicated to developing and delivering outstanding work; focused on continuing improvements to the organization in striving for excellence
  • Strategic orientation - highly developed judgment and advisory skills; able to act as a thought partner and understand when solutions should be systems-driven or by external process change
  • Solid interpersonal and relationship-building skills - can develop trusted relationships with many constituents, build credibility quickly, and partner effectively with others
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills - ability to structure and conduct interviews to gather requirements; analyze the requirements and define scope and deliverables; leadership skills to work with diverse constituency and build consensus; ability to identify risks and developing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent People Management skills - Coach, develop, and motivate employees on the HR technology team. Apply appropriate leadership styles based on project, skills and experience of team members.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with vendor management
