New Grad Program  

 

Candidates selected for this position will be included in Hydro One's New Grad development program.

Our New Graduate program reflects our long-term commitment to invest time and resources to build the best and brightest team. We are always on the lookout for individuals who have a passion for learning and are looking to build their career with Hydro One.  

 The two-year program offers a permanent position from Day 1, a combination of training and coaching, and the ability to rotate through several roles allowing New Grads to gain experience working on different projects and in different environments.   

Program Eligibility  

 

    • You have graduated with your bachelor's degree in 2024, 2025 or will graduate by May 2026  
    • Or, you are currently completing a master's degree in a related field, you are graduating by May 2026, and have a maximum of 1 year between completing your bachelor's degree and enrolling in your master's program.  
    • Good Academic Standing (A copy of your Official/Unofficial Transcript)  
    • Valid, permanent driver's license (Ontario Class G)  

 

Capital Portfolio Delivery, Project Delivery 

 

We are seeking Engineering/Power New Grad within our Capital Portfolio Delivery, Project Delivery Team.  

 

Our Capital Portfolio Delivery division is responsible for leveraging our internal capabilities and working with key stakeholders and Indigenous partners to efficiently deliver our growing capital plan, ensuring Hydro One can support the future of energy in our province.  

 

This department is comprised of various groups that support the delivery of the Transmission and Stations work program. The teams executes complex new greenfield Station and Line investments for large Customer Connections. The team is focused on the safe, on-time and on-budget delivery of the capital work program.

 

Within Project Delivery, the Outage Planning group plays a critical role in supporting Project Managers through the coordination and facilitation of power system outages, as well as the development of detailed staging plans to ensure the efficient execution of work.

 

In this role you will: 

 

  • Interface with other lines of business, to coordinate capital planned work
  • Gain an understanding of Capital Delivery Model.   
  • How the electricity grid is built, maintained, and operated. 
  • How large capital transmission infrastructure projects are defined, planned, estimated and delivered. 
  • Know the Transmission and Distribution system constraints
  • Develop outage staging plan laying out the plan for execution of planned work

 

Duties may include: 

 

  • Assisting team members in the development of outage staging plan
  • Review technical specification, input documentation, drawings and attend project meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of a commissioning estimate 
  • Utilize AutoCAD and other tools to maintain accurate staging plan
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement and project management teams to gather necessary information for accurate estimating 
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to gather data for estimates 
  • Participate in project risk workshops and stakeholder meetings 
  • Participate in regional capital project meetings

Job Requirements:  

 

  • Must meet New Grad Program Eligibility Requirements  
  • A University undergraduate degree in Engineering (Electrical), Power and Energy Engineering Technology, or related field of study 
  • Previous Co-op/Internship experience in a relevant field and industry is considered an asset
  • Familiar with general engineering project life cycles and processes. 
  • Fundamental knowledge of power systems and their protection and control systems 
  • Familiar with project management practices 
  • Familiar with SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate and SAP is an asset.
