Facilities and Real Estate

The Facilities and Real Estate (F&RE) team manages sites and buildings that support our network assets, and the functions of all lines or business. F&RE assets are geographically distributed across Ontario to align with the network, our customers, and the diverse operational requirements of the company.

We are looking for a Business/Finance, Real Estate, or Urban Planning student for our Real Estate team to support our reporting, financial analysis, and analytics functions.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Learn Real Estate Analysis techniques
  • Develop skills for real estate accounting
  • Learn how to support business decisions through financial analysis
  • Develop financial modelling skills
  • Develop communication and presentation skills

 

Duties may include:

 

  • Assisting with the development and preparation financial & business plans, investment plans and other similar submissions
  • Consolidate, gather and analyze financial and other business information and develop, produce and maintain budgetary and reporting reports and systems.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of programs and procedures for F&RE business functions
  • Provide support and advice to the Manager, Business and Strategic Planning to the procedures and requirements for planning, budgeting and reporting of financials and other relevant reporting for the division.
  • Participate in improving and developing business and information systems, ensuring adequate financial and internal controls are in place for F&RE.
  • Assist with business processes and financial models to improve efficiency and decision-making associates with real estate and facilities programs.
  • Assist with the development of financial modelling for business cases and reporting to support decision-making.

 

What we look for:

 

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), to effectively communicate with the project teams.
  • Ability to apply financial techniques (such as cost/benefit analysis, real estate economics and financial tracking i.e. budget, forecast, accruals) to ensure reporting and analytics deliverables can be met correctly, efficiently and on time.
  • Requires the ability to multi-task medium to complex financial and reporting requests on a time sensitive basis.
  • Self-motivated individual who can work independently or in a team setting and capable to be engaged in work with minimum supervision to complete assigned asks to meet business objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills and a high attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, breakdown to manageable tasks and implement solutions.

Job Requirements

 

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.  MS Teams

Knowledge of business/project management concepts, audit/investigation techniques data analysis and continuous improvement approaches.

Knowledge of the real estate industry and how real estate financials are reported and monitored would be an asset.

Experience with SAP is an asset, especially FI/CO modules and Project Systems.

Experience in working with databases, data management, analysis and reporting is an asset.

Previous school, volunteer or career development in the area of Real Estate Finance would be an asset.

A 3rd or 4th year student in a finance program, Real Estate program or Urban and Regional Planning/Geography program
