General Accountabilities

  • Participate on a team in performing assigned responsibilities.
  • Participate in implementing Hydro One’s Transmission Outage Program.
  • Identify opportunities and develop strategies, procedures, plans and schedules for transmission outages.
  • Participate in coordinating the outage program in an efficient and cost-effective manner, recognizing internal Hydro One's business processes and Service Level Agreements.
  • Co-ordinate, develop and schedule equipment outage plans with Stations, Construction Services, TX and DX Lines, other Hydro One Lines of Business, external customers and the IESO.
  • Minimize the impact of Hydro One’s Transmission Outage Program on the Ontario Electricity Marketplace.
  • Participate in the overall coordination of transmission and generation outages within the Ontario Electric Marketplace as per defined in the market manuals/rules and the Transmission Connection Agreement.
  • Contribute to delivering a consolidated outage plan to the Control Room.
  • Manage Hydro One’s transmission assets and fulfill operating and commercial accountabilities in all time frames.
  • Respond to equipment outages on the transmission system providing advice, direction and contingency planning coordination.
  • Provide operations support to the Control Room.
  • Provide operations support and input to Hydro One strategic initiatives.
  • Review and provide feedback on new or revised documentation, processes and tools.
  • Represent the Company on various internal and external training workgroups.
  • Assist in other duties of the planning team as workload and priorities dictate.


Essential Competencies

  • Demonstrated organization and planning skills.
  • Must be able to efficiently plan, organize work.
  • Must have demonstrated abilities to prioritize multiple activities.
  • Requires excellent communications skills in order to communicate with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Clear and concise English communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Requires extensive operating/technical experiences to understand the practical applications to disturbance analysis and power system operation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Operating policies and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of integrated power system operations, including generation and transmission components and their impact on system security and economics.
  • Extensive experiences in the secure and efficient operation of the bulk power supply transmission and the impacts on generation supply and the interconnections.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current redesign, deregulation and evolution of the electricity industry.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of technical writing for the preparation and checking of contract documents, Scopes of Work, presentations and technical reports and specifications.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Comprehensive appreciation and commitment to customer needs.
  • Team building skills.
  • Visible commitment to Customer and Corporate objectives.
  • Challenges current practices, and recommends programs with calculated risks to improve operation and develop new opportunities.
  • Self-starter, comfortable with initiating independent action.
  • Requires knowledge of computer technology to apply various software applications in the administration of the document systems. 
  • 4-6 years relevant experience, most of which should be in; Operating, outage scheduling, outage coordination, field operations (Operating, P&C), and/or system operating, and training.
  • Requires a 4-year university degree in engineering or equivalent.
