General Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate long term outage plans with Hydro One lines of business and external customers, respecting forecasted Distribution System conditions and Stakeholder requests. 
  • Lead the development of programs, plans, processes and technical/operational/business standards related to the management of transmission/distribution assets.
  • Be responsible for monitoring, controlling and redirecting major programs and complex projects during the planning and execution phases.
  • Responsible for assessing and planning Distribution work in the long term time frame. This includes, performing studies with CYME and the DMS, reviewing the DMS for instructions and tagging to ensure outage plans meet instruction requirements. Contacting and working with customers to facilitate outage work. etc. 
  • Co-ordinate activities with Service Providers.
  • Represent the unit on discussion and negotiation with customers, stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Prepare business cases for the management of transmission/distribution assets.
  • Participate, as assigned, as a representative of the Company before regulatory agencies and other external interests.
  • Provide input to the business plan and regulatory submissions as required.

  • Must be able to efficiently plan, organize and assign work to staff.
  • Must have demonstrated abilities to prioritize multiple activities.
  • Very strong safety orientation.
  • Requires a 4-year university degree in engineering or equivalent experience.

 
Essential Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications

  • 8 to 10 years relevant experience, most of which should be in outage scheduling, outage coordination, field operations (Lines, P&C, Project Delivery), and/or system operating.
  • Requires extensive operating experiences to understand the practical applications to disturbance analysis and Distribution System operation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Operating policies and procedures.
  • Requires an advanced knowledge of outage scheduling processes and procedures sufficient to conduct power system studies in support of outage requests.
  • Successful demonstration of significant experience in electrical operating supervisory positions, or equivalent is essential.
  • Extensive knowledge of integrated distribution system operations, including generation and transmission components and their impact on distribution security and economics.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current redesign, deregulation and evolution of the electricity industry.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Market, its rules and dynamics.
