General Accountabilities:

  • Supervise staff engaged in the delivery of the Strategic Projects capital work program. Program includes work performed by internal forces, contractors under multiple delivery models including EPC contracts.  
  • Plan, schedule, organize and assign work to ensure that quality and accuracy of work is maintained and on schedule within the normal bounds of Project Management

  • Provide advice, guidance and direction to staff in the resolution of technical and commercial issues, as well provide clear expectations and performance measures

  • Provide leadership through demonstration and response to staff requirements to achieve targets, plans, strategies and quality objectives to deliver service levels

  • Make effective recommendations on human resource issues, including career counseling, promotions, transfers, pay, hiring, and disciplinary action etc.

  • Coordinate support program needs for various projects and programs while identifying key customers and stakeholders

  • Manage and perform the full life cycle of work support programs resolving issues of performance, scheduling and control

  • Define objectives, perform tasks and produce deliverables critical to the support and success of the project and in the development and implementation of contractual agreements

  • Contributes to the development of policies, procedures, strategies and integrated plans for Project Management and other LOBs

  • Reporting regularly on the status of the work program

  • Maintaining a team of subordinates who are capable of producing the outputs required.

  • Ensure subordinates are able and willing to produce the desired output, and that subordinate managers continually improve the processes for achieving the outputs.

  • Assess staff capability to do the required work, now and in the future.

  • Conduct personal effectiveness reviews of subordinates to build relationships and trust, and to improve effectiveness.

  • Mentor and counsel subordinates Set an effective framework of policies and procedures for the work of the unit.

  • Know and ensure own and subordinates’ compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, and all corporate policies and procedures, and generally accepted practices relating to the work of the unit.

  • Establish a two-way working relationship with subordinates to solicit their views on conditions and potential changes effecting their work, and continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Perform other duties as required

  • Ensure that projects are executed in a safe and consistent manner via the capital projects process Leading a team to contribute to the successful execution of the work program by delivering projects per the approved scope, cost, and schedule.


Selection Criteria: 

  • Requires a knowledge of business administration and project management with fixed price contract management and administration experience.
  • Experience in leading muti-million dollar green field projects.
    Requires knowledge of Transmission and Distribution systems and assets information technology and systems associated with project management activities.
  • Requires strong communication skills in order to lead a team effectively, negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, and report on the status of projects within the portfolio.
  • Requires relevant experience in the following areas:
    Fixed price EPC contract management and administration experience Experience in consulting, project management and facilitation services through all phases of systems project lifecycles, including needs assessment, business case development, approval, implementation and transition to operational status.

  • Manage multiple projects within a program and effectively lead and facilitate teams consistent with the goals andphilosophies of continuous quality improvement
    Analyzing project finances, identifying trends, mitigating risks, and proactively taking action to maintain project and portfolio performance via communication with staff and peers.

  • Reporting project and portfolio performance to senior management.

  • Requires experience in handling complaints and dealing with internal and external customers.

  • Requires experience in the supervision of staff, experience in promoting and developing a teamwork environment with both staff and peers.

  • Requires experience in carrying out the broad scope of administrative responsibilities associated with monitoring, coordinating, and controlling the work activities of staff.
