General Accountability:

 

Support the Senior Manager-Corporate Risk by performing effective risk management processes, analysis, support, and reporting.

 

Specific Accountabilities

 

  • Develop and recommend risk reporting structures that support the reporting needs of senior management.
  • Conduct or support risk assessments and studies, providing research, analysis, advice and other input as required.
  • Support the planning and facilitation of risk workshops with middle, senior and corporate executive management.
  • Prepare or support the preparation of reports from risk assessments as required.
  • Research and recommend best practice Enterprise Risk Management tools and methodologies.
  • Support the ongoing development and maintenance of corporate risk management models and tools that improve understanding and communication of risk.
  • Maintain a database of risk assessments. Develop, populate, and maintain risk indicators/metrics. #Perform analysis as required to identify risks, trends and issues.
  • Track the status of major risk mitigation activities throughout the company.
  • Support the maintenance of the Corporate ERM Policy, Framework, Corporate Risk Appetite Statements and Risk Tolerances.
  • Monitor media and other external information sources to aid in the identification of emerging trends/issues.
  • Provide advice and guidance to units in their risk mitigation activities. 
  • Support the transfer of risk management skills to line management, and promote broader understanding of risk issues among all staff. Influence functional leads for other risk-related disciplines (including EH&S, insurance, asset management, technology) to adopt ERM practices in their business processes.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Hydro One Inc. staff to ensure incorporation of strategic and performance based corporate positions and priorities in the development of risk management strategies and actions plans.
  • Maintain confidentiality of risk assessments and supporting documentation.
  • Manage additional staff resources on a project basis, or on behalf of the Senior VP Internal Audit & Chief Risk Officer, as required. 

 

Required Knowledge, Experience, and Qualification:

 

  • Requires a professional designation in an area such as engineering or accounting, and a minimum of 5 years in the electricity transmission and distribution industry.
  • Knowledge of the key business areas (Tx and Dx), assets, business processes, services, products, and metrics of Corporation.
  • Advanced ability to analyze, evaluate, and integrate information and create suitable new and innovative models and processes, including statistical models, to enable thorough evaluation of complex risks, with limited guidance or external precedent, and present the conclusions efficiently to the senior-most levels of Hydro One management.
  • Work is done general guidance and supervision of the Senior Manager Corporate Risk.
  • Work involves supporting the planning, execution, and summary documentation of management workshops of up to 30 managers and executives (up to and including the CEO).
  • Highly developed organizational and analytical capability; ability to effectively use analytical tools, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Highly developed communication (report-writing, presentation) skills suitable for direct delivery to senior and corporate executive.
