Job Function:
Under the direction of the Tech FLM:
- Support Field Staff in the execution of assigned work in the metering programs.
- Perform duties relating to the technical support work for the meter service provider program.
- Carryout the duties of a Meter Technician Cus Srv (MTECH), as required
- Supervise Meter Readers and Meter Technicians in the execution ofassigned electrical distribution system and metering work programs. Beresponsible for staff safety, conduct and productivity. Monitor work in progress and ensure appropriate materials, tools and Transport and Work Equipment (T&WE) are available.
Job Description:
- Assess, plan and participate in the work of the meter service provider including: preparation of execution plans for meter reverifications, meter samples, meter testing, and metering
requirements. - Coordinate with TFLM regarding the priorities of the meter service provider.
- Monitor work program compliance to the Distribution System Code and the Service Level Agreement requirements. Recommend actions to theTFLM.
- Monitor the execution and completion of metering work relating to work quality and safety. Provide advice, guidance, and training. Recommend actions to the TFLM.
- Monitor and provide advice, guidance, and training to the MTECH Trainee program MTECH Trainees and Mentors.
- Approve all metering information submissions from Field Staff.
- Provide data, evaluate the metering information on select designsas assigned and necessary reports to TFLM on equipment condition, work in progress, materials, and job activities.
- Coordinate voltage and current surveys and the phase balancing activities within the areas.
- Select and order standard metering equipment for new services and upgrades.
- Carry out the sizing of equipment according to customer load fromacquired customer load estimates. Install a variety of standard metering equipment, including MIST and MOST metering and imbedded generator installations, with telecommunications connections for new customers.
- Respond to customer requests for metering upgrades including: scoping out work and determining costs for the installation.
- Receive work assignments through the FBC or TFLM, for the installation of metering equipment.
- Carry out initial inspections and testing of metering installations, within specified time frames of our business, to verify
the readiness of newly installed, upgraded and in service equipment. This equipment must meet specified requirements regulatory compliance (Measurement Canada and D.S.C.) and confirm to other governing regulations. - Use CM evaluator, metering analyzer and metering software to check the accuracy of metering installations, investigate malfunctions and to identify, locate and correct faults in metering equipment. Arrange with Zone, Operating Area or external personnel for joint action and assistance to resolve problems of mutual concern.
- Carry out various electrical, mechanical, visual and other checks on equipment and circuits. Analyze test results. Make necessary repairs, or modifications to correct faults, following safety and security procedures and regulations. Refer unusual problems to the TFLM for direction. Prepare and forward to the TFLM all pertinent reports on the
work performed, recording data or problems encountered and evidence to support that further work is required. - Contribute to various work activities by performing or participating with the TFLM or other technical staff in carrying out special tasks such as testing for Electro Magnetic Fields,
identification and elimination of radio frequency interference, harmonic distortion complaints, resolution and customer power factor load studies. Advise results and bring unusual problems to the TFLM's attention. Prepare and forward reports to the TFLM including recommendations where appropriate. - Respond and communicate to external inquiries.
- Respond and communicate to internal enquiries (FBC, BASC, Customer Care, etc.)
- Replace and service recording equipment used to survey and obtain statistical data on OS and customer loads as well as meter customer loads.
- Complete arrangements for collections, disconnections and reconnections and unscheduled meter readings.
- Collect metering data in the field on Meter Information Form and forward to FBC for Meter and Relay Services retention.
- Prepare electronic recording ammeters for metering of short-term duration for defective metering replacement and load transfers. Download ERA's and interpret results.
- Check out, correct or arrange for repair of test equipment.
- Assist Stockkeepers with the maintenance of local inventory of metering equipment for appropriate stock level to meet current demand. Handle, package and store metering equipment according to Field Operating practices and procedures.
- Coordinate work with external organizations to discuss work details and reach agreements on metering matters of mutual interest and concern.
- Monitor staff and work program compliance to Distribution System
- Code requirements and reporting discrepancies to the FLM for action.
- Supervise, monitor area and coordinate the work performance of assigned staff relating to work quality, safety and quantity. Assign work and provide advice, guidance and training. Take corrective action as necessary.
- Monitor daily field reports and input exceptions indicated by crews.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of inventories and pricing for the sale/purchase of distribution plant such as street lighting systems, distribution lines, etc.
- Perform other duties as required
