The successful candidate will work from one of the following locations: Barrie Corporate Office, Belleville, Ottawa, Essa, St. Thomas, Sudbury, Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie, or Toronto.
Job Description:
- Participate in the preparation of plans, schedules and work programs for various Zone work groups in accordance with scheduling processes and work methods and procedures (HODS).
- On behalf of the Senior Planning Technician, convert the larger Zone Work Plan into location-specific work plans, and translate Zone awards into executable work assignments for individual work centres and/or work crews.
- Act as the Zone custodian and operator of all relevant scheduling software applications, particularly as they relate to projects/programs, and act as the Zone representative in the use of the enterprise Planning/Scheduling system.
- Establish program and project milestones, monitor and report performance/accomplishments relative to those milestones and adjust and react to any changes to plan as they occur on behalf of the Senior Planning Technician. Assess program/project issues and concerns as they occur, and escalate if required to the Senior Planning Technician in a timely manner.
- Ensure materials are ordered, T&WE, Contracted Services, Locates, Outages and specialized equipment are in place to meet schedule requirements for all program work and large projects.
- Coordinate the scheduling of engineering/estimating required for all program and project type work. Provide technical information/guidance and or Construction techniques to the field to assist with producing these estimates. Provide a technical view in reviewing estimates created in the field verifying for correctness
- Act as the subject matter expert within the Zone for the work order life-cycle process, particularly as it applies program and project type work.
- Communicate process steps and requirements, monitor compliance and train Zone employees as necessary.
- Ensure mapping changes are completed within the Zone.
- Review status of work requests, schedules, work programs and preplanning on an ongoing basis through feedback and discussions field staff as well as participation in planning meetings under the direction of the Senior Planning Technician. Present and perform analysis on data on group accomplishments and workload forecasts and scheduling problems.
- Identify any scheduling problems, such as under-use/over use of resources and inform the Senior Planning Technician. Make recommendations, to change and improve the planning process, as required,
- Prepare status reports, as required, such as completed or outstanding work packages, using computerized and manual systems.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirement for the Position:
- A minimum of high school diploma is required.
- Valid G license in Ontario is required.
