General Accountabilities:

Conduct planning studies/assessments to develop solutions to manage capacity and reliability for safe and secure operation of the distribution system.

Participate and develop products related to Distribution Asset Management.

Assist Distribution Asset Management in setting overall policy and direction for managing Hydro One’s distribution assets.

Assist in the conduct of operations research, technical / economic /environmental / business / regulatory impact assessments and other specialized studies to determine distribution customer/system needs.

Prepare work specifications and contracts, and provide necessary technical support to service providers.

Assist in the development of business plans, budgets and regulatory submissions.

Maintain an awareness of advancing technology developments related to distribution assets.

Work with others as required, assist in resolution of work problems and train new staff in job responsibilities.

Participate in professional development training in other departments or divisions across the company.

Work with distribution customers in defining their requirements for new and upgraded connections.

Help preparing evidence related to asset plans, programs &processes required for regulatory rate hearings, leave to construct applications, Environmental Assessment proceedings or other OEB hearings.

Conduct customer impact assessments for new connections; represent Hydro One in the development of reliability standards.

Conduct power system analysis studies using sophisticated computer software packages.

Perform other duties as required.
Selection Criteria:
Essential Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:
-
A graduate in electrical engineering or equivalent from a recognized university with electric power system options.

Must have detailed knowledge of electrical theory and principles underlying the design of electrical power systems and their protection and control systems.

Requires mathematics, information technology, analytical studies related to the application, design and performance of the transmission/distribution system.

Familiar with Microsoft office and web-based programs and databases. Proficiency in computer programming is an asset.
Essential Competencies:

Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrated team player, organization and planning skills; ability to work in a project environment, interfacing with experts, as well as customers, field staff and the project leader.

Willingness to travel to field locations and customer sites.

Up to of four years of related experience to acquire the necessary qualifications.
