This placement will be a part of the Sustainability and Indigenous Procurement group within Supply Chain.  This group is responsible for providing a wide variety of services mostly to Supply Chain but also to lines of business across Hydro One. This includes process development and support, education/training, quality assurance, spend reporting and verification, business improvement projects, communications support, and data analysis. The objective of the group is to help ensure that Hydro One meets its commitments towards economic reconciliation with Indigenous businesses and communities as part of the 2015 Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action.  

Job Duties:

  • Writing audience-appropriate, program-related communications
  • Creating reports and presentations
  • Creating visuals to enhance presentations and communicate concepts
  • Analyzing data and presenting results of studies
  • Booking meetings and tracking actions, issues, risks and decisions
  • Participation in discussions
  • Facilitating meetings and workshops
  • Delivering presentations to a wide variety of audiences
  • Data processing which may include maintaining, scrubbing, and extracting information
  • Assisting with monthly/quarterly reporting
  • Participate in the education of and ensuring that Indigenous Procurement policies and procedures are understood, easily accessible, and utilized by all lines of business.
  • Liaise with Hydro One clients (Requisitioners), vendors, and service providers
  • Assist potential new Indigenous vendors with bidding platform and Indigenous Business Directory registration
  • Support end-to-end Supply Chain Services in any capacity required
  • Perform other duties as required

Selection criteria

Education level:

  • Completion of 3rd or 4th year

Program/area of study:

  • Business Administration, Data Management, Marketing and/or Communications, Indigenous Relations, Supply Chain Management or Masters students

Soft and technical skills:

  • Requires knowledge of various software packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint to be able to create, modify and review reports
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Requires ability to multi-task in a detail-oriented manner
  • Requires sound business acumen
  • Requires ability to work independently and on a team with minimal supervision
  • Requires strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Requires strong organization and planning skills with the ability to adapt to changing work priorities
  • Requires ability to develop co-operative working relationships, internal and external
  • Must be self-starter, capable of identifying the need for, and taking, independent action

This position will be hybrid (two days in the office per week).
