Responsible for management of all aspects of pension and wellness program design and to continue to meet organizational excellence management of insurance and claims functions across Hydro One and its subsidiaries. This role will identify corporate operational exposures to loss and recommend appropriate insurance and risk transfer techniques to eliminates or reduce the impact of loss on the ability of the corporation to operate at a desirable level. As a Director of pension and wellness program incumbent will review and approve insurance provisions in all procurement related contracts.
Reporting to the Vice President of Total Rewards, this individual will develop strategic relationships and collaborate with leadership to ensure alignment with Hydro One’s strategic goals. This role is perfect for a trusted advisor and relationship builder with deep expertise in retirement solutions and a proven ability to drive business growth
General Accountabilities include
- Research, develop and sustain equitable benefit program design that supports employees and their families.
- Identify best practices in benefit programming to attract and retain top performers.
- Develop disability management principles and practices that improve employee productivity and absenteeism.
- Design, implement and promote programs that improve the mental and physical well-being of employees. Operational Oversight
- Monitor the operational excellence of all pension, benefit and wellness program design, including vendor selection and management.
- Direct pension administration team and outsource providers to ensure delivery of plan information that is customer focused.
- Anticipate and provide leadership in pension plan changes to ensure adherence to legislative and operational requirements.
- Develop and sustain strategic communications for people leaders and employees on pension and benefits.
Leadership responsibilities include:
- Select and develop staff for key roles in centers’ of excellence. Manage the performance of staff to meet key program deliverables.
- Partner across HR team to ensure HR functional partners have the training and information necessary to interface with the business
- Provide technical leadership and guidance as required with senior leadership, unions, etc.
Selection Criteria
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline or equivalent experience. MBA would be an asset
- Experience: 8-10 years of experience in Human Resources with specific focus in pension, benefits, or disability management
- Strong understanding of the principles, concepts and practices of pension and benefit plan administration, including the relevant acts, legislation and guidelines related to pension and benefit plans
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with ability to address the sensitivity of human resource issues, and influence others to provide specialized expertise, advice, and guidance to all levels of the organization.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Solid leadership skills with ability to manage directly reporting staff.
