Job Function


Support the Director, Supply Chain in the ownership of the Contract Management and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) functions inclusive of developing the strategy, governance and ongoing maintenance within Shared Services. This will include building and operationalizing leading class SRM processes to ensure strategic suppliers and service providers remain in compliance with contract directives and objectives, as well as monitoring supplier performance against risk, contract leakage, and alignment with Hydro One initiatives related to inclusion and diversity, indigenous relations, and sustainability.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate ownership, management, continuous improvement and optimization of the Contract Management and Supplier Relationship Management processes.
  • Lead the contracting, negotiation and governance support for Supply Chain and Shared Services functions related to contracts and suppliers.
  • Oversee the mutually beneficial relationships across all outsourced or other Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Manage all contract governance elements including the Joint Executive and Joint Leadership Committees, Dispute Boards, Responsible Executive and participate and provide oversight of SOWs Joint Strategy Meetings.
  • Manage and approve the release to suppliers of all contract changes, project orders, project change orders and other contract adjustments.
  • Facilitate the development and execution of the service performance management processes and tools; facilitate the reviews of service quality, performance, cost and reliability; and work with the Client and Supplier management teams to enable quality and effective service support management and reporting.
  • Manage and oversee supplier and client compliance with contract obligations. Collaborate with applicable client organizations to coordinate periodic audits or other activities to ensure supplier compliance with applicable laws and policies as required.
  • Manage client stakeholders' expectations and review need for business requirement changes, user satisfaction, business relationships, and overall demand and consumption management.
  • Provide outsourcing strategies, policies and standards, results and management reports as required to support submissions to the OEB.
  • Advise corporate stakeholders on implications of contract changes, performance results, strategy and business planning.
  • Develop and maintain an intelligence network regarding key industry outsourcing governance models to best position Hydro One in realizing value in outsourcing contracts.
  • Work with Category Managers to identify strategic suppliers and service providers. Establish a tiering system to effectively target suppliers and services providers that represent the highest value, highest risk and highest strategic influence to Hydro One.
  • Develop and execute a SRM review process. Assist in the development of SRM reports, dashboards and other material to keep stakeholders apprised of supplier performance.
  • Define, implement and communicate key metrics, service levels and other criteria that suppliers must meet as part of SRM.
  • Identify, define, implement, and communicate risk tolerance thresholds for financial, safety, manufacturing and supply parameters of strategic suppliers and establish risk mitigation plans.
  • Contribute to the business planning process by determining requirements to establish and execute Contract Management and SRM strategies, and hold accountability for results.
  • Review the forecasts and establish demand plans that enable Contract Management and SRM to support all upcoming business activities.
  • Review all relevant market factors (macro-economic, cost indices, constraints) to identify conditions that might impact Contract Management and SRM strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements (both internal and external), policies, and procedures.
  • Interact with and understand the needs of the other business units and stakeholders in order to offer timely and value-added solutions.


Accountability for the Output of Others


  • Develop strong Contract Management and SRM capabilities. Establish standards for the development of programs and initiatives.
  • Monitor staff skills. Provide ongoing coaching and training for development of key skills: analytical, negotiations, influence management and relationship management.
  • Conduct performance reviews with staff ensuring establishment of goals and objectives as it relates to individual contributions to the organization.
  • Establish succession plans for each of the roles and align to career progression objectives.
  • Establish working relationships of openness and trust to ensure staff provide input on difficulties and challenges in conducting analyses in support strategic sourcing and in conducting negotiations.
  • Provide leadership in leading methods to manage high quality sourcing events especially those of significant length to ensure desired outcomes on contracts (including price).
  • Translate organization's goals and objectives to establish the context for work that guides the work of the team and the individual's contribution.
  • Build the team's ability to work in alignment with achieving Contract Management and SRM's business objectives.
  • Establish team building activities designed to encourage cohesive working relationships.
  • Establish a willingness to share information and expertise between team members.
  • Build commitment amongst team to establish and maintain standards and achieve common goals.
