General Responsibilities

•    Support the Director of Project Delivery with development and delivery of large Tranmission Customer Connection projects

•    Maintain and enhance internal and external customer relationships.

•    Build a customer-service culture within organization, focusing on agility, flexibility, responsiveness, speed, quality and competitiveness.

•    Able to set targets, develop programs and monitor the continuous improvement of the corporate capital project delivery program.
•    Responsible for all direct reports performance reviews and pay recommendations.
•    Ensure the administration and compliance of corporate/business unit policies and procedures, applicable legislation and collective agreements.
•    Develop and monitor project delivery work programs and ensure compliance of safety programs.
•    Plan, organize and assign work to direct reports as well as develop, implement and maintain adequate project delivery procedures and standards and the preparation of tender documents and evaluations.
•    Administer and control large and complex contract work within the capital project program.
•    Ensure the appropriate training and development of all direct reports.
•    Oversee proposal activity related to a variety of work functions ensuring Hydro One and Business Unit interests and guidelines are maintained.
•    Problem solving on critical projects to ensure meeting of in-service dates.
•    Drive continuous improvement enhancements within the line of business environment.
•    Supervise staff engaged in all aspects of project definition and execution, including: sourcing strategy, contracting strategy, regulatory and finanical challanges, scheduling, estimating, materials management, analytic services, customer engagement, community engagement and First Nations engagement
•    Plan, schedule, organize and assign work to ensure that quality, accuracy and safety of work are delivered and on schedule.
•    Provide advice, guidance and direction to staff in the resolution of work/project related problems; as well provide clear expectations and performance measures.
•    Provide leadership through experience, commitment to established processes, demonstration and prompt response to staff requirements to achieve targets, plans, strategies and quality objectives to deliver service levels.
•    Lead and manage complex power systems projects and be responsible for the integration of Transmission Stations and Lines, Distribution Stations and Lines, Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Real Estate, P&C, SCADA and Telecommunications.
•    Coordinate work program needs for project and team charters while identifying the key customers and stakeholders.
•    Implement Quality Assurance mechanisms by utilizing problem solving techniques, lessons learned, audits and evaluations for ongoing project quality and continuous improvement by assessing and implementing improvement strategies project specific.
•    Manage and perform the full life cycle of work programs and projects resolving issues of performance, resourcing, outage management, change control, scheduling and control.
•    Provide consultation, planning and support services to Business Units and functions, in connection with Transmission Stations and Tranmission Lines

 

Managerial Accountabilities

•    Support Hydro One strategy to be a Customer Focus organizaiton    

•    Manage the unit and achieve the targeted results through diligent and accurate oversight of the financial aspects of the department.
•    Develop and measure a Customer satisfaction peformance index for large tranmission connection projects
•    Maintain a team of subordinates who are capable of producing the outputs required
•    Oversee a large contracts for Project Management services
•    Provide staffing recommendations as requirements and objectives evolve.
•    Assess staff capability to do the required work, now and in the future.
•    Conduct personal effectiveness reviews of subordinates to build relationships and trust, and to improve effectiveness.

•    Advocate the acquisition of appropriate tools and skills to optimize the performance of staff.
•    Mentor, counsel and foster the personal development of all subordinates.
•    Manage the unit and achieve the approved programs and targeted results through the promotion of teamwork between the various disciplines and LOB's across Hydro One.
•    Optimization of all resources at the manager's disposal, and through encouraging innovative ways to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
•    Promotion of a safe workplace through leadership, clear accountability and adherence to corporate regulatory rules, procedures and practices.
•    Maintaining and developing a skilled workforce within the department. Creation of development opportunities which promote success planning.
•    Maintaining a team of high-performance subordinates who are capable and enabled to prodcue the outputs required.

 

Selection Criteria

•    Requires experience in electrical-transmission project management systems and business processes.

•    Demonstrated experience business development

•    Demonstrated experience in customer service or customer focus roles/assignments/projects

•    Demonstrated experience with variety of contracting strategies and models (design-bid-build, engineer-procure-construct (EPC), EPCm, progressive design build, early contractor involvement, cost-plus insentive fee, 

•    Strong written and verbal communication skills
•    Requires experience in consulting, project management, contract development and contract administration, and facilitation services through all phases of project life cycles, including needs assessment, business case development, approval, implementation and transition to operational status.
•    Requires experience to manage multiple work programs and effectively lead and facilitate teams consistent with the goals and philosophies of continuous quality improvement.
•    Requires experience in a leadership and supervisory roles
•    Requires a university degree in engineering or business
•    Extensive knowledge of Transmission and Distribution systems and assets.
•    In-depth experience in the following areas: Project planning and approval process, Project estiamting and budgeting, Financial and cost accounting, Customer Support.
•    Experience in the following areas: Complex data management and report preparation, Schedule preparation, Presentation preparation to customers, Presentation and briefings to executives
•    A period of up to 12 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
•    Demonstrated strong ability to navigate large and complex organizations to deliver for the Customer
•    Demonstrated professional level of communication skills, both oral and written, to communicated effectively with customers.
•    Demonstrated record of initiating process improvements
•    Demonstrated ability to coordinate work, and work in a team environment.
•    Demonstrated record of advocating and driving change that benefits the customer (internal or extenral)

•    Demonstrated  undrestanding of Ontario's regulatory framework for electricity tranmission with resepct to Envriomental regulations and Energy regulations
