This role reports to the Security Program Manager. The Security Program team is focused on improving financial analysis, status reporting of Security Initiatives and Projects, as well as supporting the Security and Infrastructure leadership in developing and maintaining Hydro One's Security technology roadmap.

 

Specific Accountabilities

Work with multiple contract staff responsible to managing Projects and initiatives, in order to track and report status.Review existing budgetary, business plan, staff plan and financial controls of these projects and be able to adjust their pace when required.Prepare monthly forecasts and variance reports containing explanations of significant variances between budgeted, forecasted and actual expenditures.Provide advice, recommendations and assistance to managers and directors on submitted investment plans and forecasts. Prepare and deliver presentations to communicate approved budgets and/or identified forecast trends.Prepare roadmaps and budget requirements related to Security initiatives, gathering departmental feedback, reviewing  and submitting the data in multiple formats, on required systems and within the deadlines.Connect with other Hydro One Departments to align the status of deliverables and aggregate information for leadership.Develop strategies to accelerate or slow down initiatives based on financial constraints or technical dependencies, clearly outlining the business impacts of the recommended changes.Maintain a diary of approaches used in presentations, as well as what was learned for each team discussions providing historical information for managers and directors.Collaborate with security project managers and external consultants to report on the completion of initiatives aligning with the submitted investment plan and the security roadmap.Initiate requests for proposals, evaluate proposals, determine costs and other contractual details and work closely with external personnel to achieve optimum utilization of their resources.Create and maintain an effective partnership with team leaders, internal and external to the Security team.Act as a consultant to managers, project managers and directors for finance reporting and roadmap planning .

 

Selection criteria

Requires a good knowledge of English to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts and to prepare leadership communications. This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired either through the successful completion of a four year university education in business administration or equivalent level of education.Requires experience related to team management and conflict resolution.Requires experience in project work in order to be familiar with reporting status and measuring results, as well as communicating deviations to the appropriate stakeholders.Requires experience related to the delivery of programs including presentation format, program support material/manuals and the latest training and delivery techniques.A period of over 10 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.

 

The following knowledge is essential in order to perform in this position:Computer Skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint)Strong organizational and communication skills.

 

The following knowledge and experience is desirable to perform in this position:Prior work experience in and familiarity with Information Technology.An understanding of Information Security principles and processes.Knowledge of project management principles and/or PMP certification.
