New Grad Program

Program Eligibility  

• You have graduated with your bachelor's degree in 2023, 2024 or will graduate by May 2025  

• Or, you are currently completing a master's degree in a related field, you are graduating by May 2025, and have a maximum of 1 year between completing your bachelor's degree and enrolling in your master's program.  

• Good Academic Standing (A copy of your Official/Unofficial Transcript)  

• Valid, permanent driver's license (Ontario Class G)  

Capital Portfolio Delivery, Estimating & Best Practices 

We are seeking 1 Business/Mathematics/Statistics/Data Science New Grad within our Capital Portfolio Delivery, Estimating & Best Practices Team. 

The Estimating Best Practices team provides guidance, best practices, governance, training and continuous improvement and benchmarking underpinning our estimating practices. This ensures our estimating team is helping to deliver our transmission capital infrastructure projects safely, efficiently and successfully. 

This role will be part of the Estimating Best Practices team within the Commissioning Estimating & Best Practices team. The position will primarily focus on process, historical data collection, data cleansing and normalization, benchmarking, and analysis to ensure the broader estimating team is leveraging recommended practices in current and future projects. 

In this role you will learn: 

• Business process development and design 

• Teaching and training of best practices 

• Project management fundamentals 

• Estimating principles, benchmarking and data analysis 

• Gain an understanding of risk management, and Hydro One’s Capital Delivery Model 

• How the electricity grid is built, maintained, and operated. 

• How large capital transmission infrastructure projects are defined, planned, estimated and delivered. 

Duties may include: 

• Collections, cleansing and analyzing large datasets related to estimating accuracy 

• Developing and maintaining dashboards and reports to monitor key performance indicators (KPI) related to the estimating function 

• Conduct benchmarking studies to compare our estimating performance against industry standards and identify areas for improvement 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data-driven strategies and best practices in estimating 

• Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support decision-making processes withing the estimating function 

• Ensure Data integrity and accuracy by performing regular data audits and validation 

• Engage in benchmarking reviews with field personnel. 

• Participate in workshops to foster continuous improvement and knowledge sharing with respect to estimating process.

Job Requirements:  

• Must meet New Grad Program Eligibility Requirements  

• A University undergraduate degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or related field of study 

• Previous Co-op/Internship experience in a relevant field and industry is considered an asset 

• Requires relevant and demonstrable reporting, analysis and process improvement experience  

• Requires experience with the measurement, design, monitoring, analysis and reporting function to give advice and guidance to senior management on business performance processes, including setting performance measures and targets. 

• Requires excellent business writing and verbal communication skills to effectively develop and present detailed analysis, reports, training, etc. 

• Requires strong analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills. 

• Requires experience with working effectively in team settings. 

• Familiar with SharePoint, Power BI (or other data visualization tools), Power Automate and SAP is an asset.
