Program Eligibility  

  • You have graduated with your bachelor's degree in 2023, 2024 or will graduate by May 2025  

  • Or, you are currently completing a master's degree in a related field, you are graduating by May 2025, and have a maximum of 1 year between completing your bachelor's degree and enrolling in your master's program.  

  • Good Academic Standing (A copy of your Official/Unofficial Transcript)  

  • Valid, permanent driver's license (Ontario Class G)  

 

Capital Portfolio Delivery, Project Controls: Risk and Cost 

 

We are seeking 1 Engineering New Grads within our Capital Portfolio Delivery, Project Controls: Risk and Cost Team.  

 

Engineers within Capital Portfolio Delivery, Project Controls (PC) at Hydro One Networks Inc. are engaged in a variety of challenging and exciting roles and responsibilities.  Our Capital Portfolio Delivery division is responsible for leveraging our internal capabilities and working with key stakeholders and Indigenous partners to efficiently deliver our growing capital plan, ensuring Hydro One can support the future of energy in our province.  The Project Controls team serves as a bridge between Project Management and Lines of Business supporting Capital Projects (e.g. Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, etc.).  Project Controls Risk and Cost team is accountable to provide project risk and cost assessment as well as support and guidance to the project team in project forecasting, KPI development and tracking, investment planning support, resource planning, rate filing preparation and, and any strategic initiatives to help the corporation meet its stated goals and objectives. A successful New Graduate in Project Control team would be an individual with strong attention to detail, an analytical mindset and great communication skills.  

 

In this role you will: 

  • Learn emerging technologies and implement modern technical solutions in project cost, risk and productivity analysis.  

  • Support software systems to ensure accurate reporting and tracking of project progress. 

  • Engage in project comparator analysis from scope/cost/risk perspective. 

  • Learn and implement Project Controls principles in cost, risk, estimating and scheduling for Transmission Stations and Lines projects. 

  • Gain an understanding of Capital Delivery Model.   

  • Learn Monte Carlo analysis in Project Risk (Cost and Schedule). 

 

Duties may include: 

  • Facilitate Project Risk workshops and develop Project Risk Registers by reviewing and understanding project scopes and ensuring all potential projects risk is captured and analyzed.   

  • Supporting critical software systems for Ontario’s electric power system. 

  • Engage in project comparator analysis from scope/cost/risk perspective. 

  • Set up Production Boards to track accomplishment units and report on productivity.

Job Requirements:  

  • Must meet New Grad Program Eligibility Requirements  

  • A University undergraduate degree in Engineering (Open to Various Disciplines) 

  • Previous Co-op/Internship experience in a relevant field and industry is considered an asset 

  • Familiar with general engineering project life cycles and processes. 

  • Fundamental knowledge of power systems and their protection and control systems 

  • Familiar with project management practices 

  • Familiar with SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate and SAP is an asset.
