New Grad Program
Candidates selected for this position will be included in Hydro One's New Grad development program.
Our New Graduate program reflects our long-term commitment to invest time and resources to build the best and brightest team. We are always on the lookout for individuals who have a passion for learning and are looking to build their career with Hydro One.
The two-year program offers a permanent position from Day 1, a combination of training and coaching, and the ability to rotate through several roles allowing New Grads to gain experience working on different projects and in different environments.
Program Eligibility

- You have graduated with your bachelor's degree in 2024, 2025 or will graduate by May 2026

- Or, you are currently completing a master's degree in a related field, you are graduating by May 2026, and have a maximum of 1 year between completing your bachelor's degree and enrolling in your master's program.

Distribution System Planning
The electricity system is currently in the midst of the energy transition as we increase electrification and look to reduce the impact to the environment. The transition will require novel tools and skillsets while encouraging greater efficiency to manage the impact to our customers.
The Distribution System Planning team is responsible for assessing impacts of new connections, growth plans, and electrification on the distribution the system with an aim to determine cost- effective solutions to support the additional load. This is performed through the team’s activities which include load flow analysis, economic impact assessment, investment planning, review and implementation of regulatory policy and physical asset standards.
In this role you will learn:
- How to effectively operationalize strategies to the benefit of organizations.
- Technical, economic, and operational considerations of the transmission and distribution system.
- Novel technologies and areas of research impacting the electricity system.
- How to assess opportunities, propose solutions, and effect change.
Duties May Include:
- Conduct technical and economic impact assessments to determine distribution system needs related to distribution stations, lines, and distributed generation.
- Develop alternatives and preferred solution; and facilitate delivery of solution through suppliers and service providers.
- Develop effective distribution strategies that will provide guidance to the investment planning processes.
- Develop strategies focused on new innovations to guide implementation across transmission and distribution systems over a long-term planning horizon.
- Provide communications to inform and promote acceptance of innovation in support of change management process.

- Excellent knowledge of technical writing for the preparation of reports, presentations and other communications.
- Strong Computer skills, with the ability to learn various software packages as required
- Detailed understanding of Excel formulas and functions is an asset
Job Requirements
- Must meet New Grad Program Eligibility Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory related to the design and operation of power equipment associated with the electrical power system is considered an asset
- Knowledge of economics to carry out economic evaluations and to compare alternatives and assess results.
- Knowledge of power transmission and distribution infrastructure
- This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of University training (Grade XII plus 5 years) or equivalent.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Previous co-op experience in a relevant field and industry is considered an asset
