New Grad Program  

 

Candidates selected for this position will be included in Hydro One's New Grad development program.

Our New Graduate program reflects our long-term commitment to invest time and resources to build the best and brightest team. We are always on the lookout for individuals who have a passion for learning and are looking to build their career with Hydro One.  

 The two-year program offers a permanent position from Day 1, a combination of training and coaching, and the ability to rotate through several roles allowing New Grads to gain experience working on different projects and in different environments.   

Program Eligibility  

 

    • You have graduated with your bachelor's degree in 2024, 2025 or will graduate by May 2026  
    • Or, you are currently completing a master's degree in a related field, you are graduating by May 2026, and have a maximum of 1 year between completing your bachelor's degree and enrolling in your master's program.  
    • Good Academic Standing (A copy of your Official/Unofficial Transcript)  
    • Valid, permanent driver's license (Ontario Class G)  

Job Description:

  • Work closely with the Pod Lead to plan a successful development process which includes development cycles and releases.
  • Self-organize and collaborate with the Pod team and other relevant stakeholders to execute assigned development activities (designing, inspecting, adjusting, implementing code increments) and sustainment activities (operating, maintaining applications once developed including patch and image management tasks) for various applications, based on relevant requirements and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Applications may require using one or more programming languages.
  • Guard the quality of the code and prevent accumulation of technical debt by applying sound code engineering practices.
  • Support creation of technical documentation for applications delivered.
  • Work with the Pod team to manage the backlog, prioritize user stories, and confirm requirements are clear and complete before development.
  • Discuss business requirements and user stories with the Agile Business Analyst to ensure clear and complete understanding of the requirements before development.
  • Collaborate with the Pod team and other relevant stakeholders to identify improvements in the design and development of assigned applications and associated business processes for the supporting Line of Business (LoB).
  • Support the Application Service Management lifecycle by analyzing trends to prevent occurrence of incidents, problems, and errors and improve overall performance; and conducting break/fix work, ensuring client satisfaction and management of risk to business processes.
  • Support release management and deployment activities and other sustainment activities with other groups as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Deliver user support services including acting as the initial touchpoint for users to answer inquiries; completing quick fixes regarding technology solutions; and driving incident, issue and outage management activities including investigation and restoration.
  • Help improve team delivery capabilities and satisfaction over time by participating in retrospectives.
  • Perform other duties as required

 

 

Education:

  • Requires 4-year university degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • A self-motivated individual with an aptitude for learning.
  • Interest in driving changes and taking on new challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Leadership skills gained through extracurricular activities or other experience in a dynamic team environment.

 

Experience:

  • Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, Python, GitLab, CI/CD, DevOps, SQL, Ansible, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, and automated testing are assets.
  • Nice to have knowledge about Microsoft Azure, AWS, Lang chain, Fabric, Azure Open AI, ML ops
  • Demonstrated record of self-motivated behavior and perseverance to accomplish objectives in spite of obstacles.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate work, and work in a team environment.
  • Professional level of oral and written communication skills.
