The two-year program offers a permanent position from Day 1, a combination of training and coaching, and the ability to rotate through several roles allowing New Grads to gain experience working on different projects and in different environments.   

  

Program Eligibility  

  • You have graduated with your bachelor's degree in 2023, 2024 or will graduate by May 2025  

  • Or, you are currently completing a master's degree in a related field, you are graduating by May 2025, and have a maximum of 1 year between completing your bachelor's degree and enrolling in your master's program.  

  • Good Academic Standing (A copy of your Official/Unofficial Transcript)  

  • Valid, permanent driver's license (Ontario Class G)  

 

Role and Team Description:  

  • The Regulatory Analyst will join the Major Projects and Partnership (MP&P) team within the Regulatory Affairs department at Hydro One. The key deliverables MP&P focus on are obtaining Ontario Energy Board (OEB) approval for Hydro One’s electrical facility applications, which include Leave to Construct (approval to build new transmission lines), Mergers and Acquisitions, Asset Sales, Licensing and Service Area Amendments, and other associated requests. 

 

In this role you will:  

  • Assist in developing and reviewing evidence to support OEB application approvals that adhere to the OEB’s filing requirements. 

  • Ensure Hydro One applications meet timelines defined by the OEB. This will include setting out detailed schedules of key tasks and deliverables, monitoring the progress of those deliverables and recommending action plans to ensure timelines are met. 

  • Support the discovery and argument phase of OEB proceedings such as drafting interrogatory (i.e. questions submitted to Hydro One on an application from external stakeholders) responses and final arguments/submissions on each file. 

  • Review internal project business cases to ensure they adhere to regulatory standards. 

  • Assist with reporting to the Ontario regulator on a variety of regulatory commitments.  

  • Develop an understanding of various codes and regulations in the energy sector and other entities who operate and impact the sector. 

  • Understand OEB decisions and corresponding linkages and relationships between proceedings that could have potential impacts on Hydro One.  

  • Prepare screening summaries of OEB decisions for circulation to Regulatory Affairs staff and other relevant parties in Hydro One to assist those parties in determining Hydro One’s role with respect to those proceedings. 

  • Respond to requests for information from Regulatory staff, from other internal Hydro One parties and from external parties.  

  • Conduct research and analysis on regulatory precedent in Ontario, as well as other Canadian and foreign jurisdictions.  

  • Prepare a range of correspondence, email or written documents that focus on Hydro One’s regulatory obligations.

Job Requirements:  

  • Must meet New Grad Program Eligibility Requirements  

  • A University undergraduate degree in Business/Finance, Engineering, English or law preferred or related field 

  • Previous Co-op/Internship experience in a relevant field and/or industry is considered an asset 

  • Strong working knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft Office suite of applications (i.e. Word/PowerPoint/Outlook/ Excel), etc is an asset. Experience with SharePoint, or a similar database storage Application would also be an advantage.
