New Grad Program  

 

Candidates selected for this position will be included in Hydro One's New Grad development program.

Our New Graduate program reflects our long-term commitment to invest time and resources to build the best and brightest team. We are always on the lookout for individuals who have a passion for learning and are looking to build their career with Hydro One.  

 The two-year program offers a permanent position from Day 1, a combination of training and coaching, and the ability to rotate through several roles allowing New Grads to gain experience working on different projects and in different environments.   

Program Eligibility  

 

    • You have graduated with your bachelor's degree in 2024, 2025 or will graduate by May 2026  
    • Or, you are currently completing a master's degree in a related field, you are graduating by May 2026, and have a maximum of 1 year between completing your bachelor's degree and enrolling in your master's program.  
    • Good Academic Standing (A copy of your Official/Unofficial Transcript)  
    • Valid, permanent driver's license (Ontario Class G)  

 

We are looking for New Graduates in the Strategic Projects team. 

 

Our Strategic Projects Department of the Capital Portfolio Delivery division is responsible for leveraging external contractor and consultants along with our internal capabilities to develop and deliver large new build projects, by working with key stakeholders and Indigenous partners to efficiently deliver our growing capital plan, ensuring Hydro One can support the future of energy in our province. 

 

The Strategic Projects team is accountable to develop and deliver unique and challenging capital transmission and distribution power system projects through bespoke delivery models. 

 

The team is focused on the safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery of Strategic Projects. 

 

In this role you will: 

 

  • Work within a team of high performing and highly experienced Project Managers.
  • Learn the Fundamentals and hands-on experience in Project Management.
  • Hands-on experience in project controls (including scheduling, risk management, cost management, change management, etc.)

 

Duties May Include: 

 

  • Support project controls.
  • Site visits to active project sites.
  • Document control – maintaining/managing project documents and related meetings.
  • Participate and support in strategic planning, development of Business Cases and working with multiple stakeholders for review and approval.
  • Supporting the development of project schedule and execution plan with large number of team members.
  • Communicating with, attending, and coordinating meetings with project teams, stakeholders and interested parties.

Job Requirements:

 

  • University Degree - Bachelor of Engineering degree (any discipline) or a degree in natural sciences such as Environmental Science, Forestry or Geology.  
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, VISIO)
  • Experience/Courses in Project Management or PMP Designation in progress is considered an asset
  • Volunteer experience and extra curricular activities showing team work and leadership is considered an asset
  • Previous co-op experience in a relevant field and industry is considered an asset
