New Grad Program  

 

Candidates selected for this position will be included in Hydro One's New Grad development program.

Our New Graduate program reflects our long-term commitment to invest time and resources to build the best and brightest team. We are always on the lookout for individuals who have a passion for learning and are looking to build their career with Hydro One.  

 The two-year program offers a permanent position from Day 1, a combination of training and coaching, and the ability to rotate through several roles allowing New Grads to gain experience working on different projects and in different environments.   

Program Eligibility  

 

    • You have graduated with your bachelor's degree in 2024, 2025 or will graduate by May 2026  
    • Or, you are currently completing a master's degree in a related field, you are graduating by May 2026, and have a maximum of 1 year between completing your bachelor's degree and enrolling in your master's program.  
    • Good Academic Standing (A copy of your Official/Unofficial Transcript)  
    • Valid, permanent driver's license (Ontario Class G)  

 

New Grad – Technical Specialist (Grid Technologies):

 

The Technical Specialist (new graduate) within the Work and Asset Management section of Grid Technologies at Hydro One will engage with complex technical challenges across IT and OT systems that support critical utility operations. You’ll develop expertise in application lifecycle management, troubleshooting, cybersecurity, and infrastructure, working with a wide variety of technologies to enhance asset management and operational efficiency. A key part of your role will involve collaborating directly with end users to diagnose and resolve technical incidents, ensuring smooth and reliable system performance. We are looking for a proactive problem-solver with a strong technical aptitude, eagerness to learn emerging technologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.

 

In this role you will: 

  • Own the lifecycle of the Work and Asset Management application portfolio within Grid Technologies
  • Resolve technical support incidents requiring deep technical expertise
  • Leverage cross-functional teams to deliver business outcomes
  • Develop technical IT/OT skills (technical troubleshooting, cybersecurity, infrastructure, networking, data processing, etc.) as well as skills relevant to the utility sector (protection and control, Tx and Dx asset maintenance, etc.) 
  • Learn emerging technologies and implement modern technical solutions within a dynamic team
  • Operate with adaptability, speed, and agility

 

Duties may include: 

  • Supporting applications related to Geographic Information System (GIS)
  • Supporting applications related to project management (e.g. project controls, estimating, scheduling, risk and dispatch)
  • Supporting applications related to engineering drawings management
  • Supporting applications related to planning and asset management
  • Supporting software and server upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Service Management and Change Management activities and improvements  
  • Cybersecurity testing, patching and remediation
  • Help build and maintain the department’s presence on the company’s intranet

Job Requirements:  

  • Must meet New Grad Program Eligibility Requirements  
  • A University undergraduate degree in Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Computer, Software), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field 
  • Previous Co-op/Internship experience in a relevant field and industry is considered an asset
