POD Directors to continue our journey. The POD Director is responsible for ensuring that IT requirements are met from project start through to sustainment and operation. The POD Director is accountable for Corporate Services. The POD Director will report directly to the Vice President of Business Solutions.

 

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Oversee and deliver strategic projects that are crucial to Hydro One achieving its overall strategy within a functional domain.

  • Accountable for managing budget and annual work program and investment plan allocation of POD.

  • Delivering on Hydro One's strategic objectives through the more effective use of information technologies and by transforming the business through improved business process, applications, integration, and technology. This includes ensuring that the IT strategy and POD agenda align with corporate strategy.

  • Architect and drive productivity and cost effectiveness through innovation and demonstrate same to the ISD Leadership team through the application of broad knowledge in both business processes and enabling technologies.

  • Own the lifecycle of the business application portfolio focusing on business outcomes.

  • Manage the project intake, application design, build and deployment of IT systems and projects.

  • Interface with senior management of assigned LOB to ensure IT requirements are successfully executed.

  • Interface with leadership of supporting ISD groups to ensure alignment of efforts and successful implementation and execution of project and sustainment portfolio.

  • Help define yearly strategic resource allocation related IT budget for LOB and allocation by service.

  • Monitor and report on the ongoing performance of Pods to ensure objectives established and met.

  • Provide quality assurance monitoring to assess IT compliance to established standards.

  • Define service levels, balance business needs and allocate Pod budgets based on portfolio prioritization and investment plans.

  • Oversee application sustainment metrics (e.g. uptime) and activities (e.g. patching).

  • Responsible for implementation, management, supervision of all activities of the POD.

  • Ensure outsourced service providers and other third parties (integrators, product vendors, etc.) meet expectations and deliver to project outcomes as contractually required

Selection Criteria:

  • 10+ years’ demonstrated IT experience, at least 5 years’ experience managing a team

  • Demonstrated track record of improving overall performance and productivity of IT function and work programs

  • Knowledge and experience with IT operations best practices and industry standards

  • Ability to liaise with senior leaders within the organization

  • Demonstrated solid communication, presentation and written capabilities

  • Has a transformational mindset and understands how technology can be deployed from both big waterfall and agile projects

  • Strong understanding of Hydro One’s technical business goals and objectives
