Job Functions:
The Sr. Human Resources Business Partner (Sr. HRBP) is a member of a seasoned HR team responsible for providing a high level of thought leadership, guidance, and advice to business leaders across Hydro One. The Sr. HRBP acts as a strategic partner, serving as a consultant to a client group, inclusive of Director + leadership teams. The role assesses and anticipates HR and business-related needs and assists in the development of people strategies to influence outcomes and achieve desired business goals. The position formulates partnerships enterprise-wide to deliver value-added service, especially with HR function specialists in Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Learning & Development, Employee Engagement and Compensation.
General Accountabilities:
Client Support:
- Provide strategic HR consultation and support on any/all HR and business initiatives to drive value, growth and employee engagement
- Using data and analytics, anticipate and support the business to achieve their goals to execute on the corporate strategy
- Use data to predict people outcomes of business decisions and proactively assess the business for talent opportunities and risks
- Develop and recommend strategies to meet specific business unit requirements in response to corporate initiatives
- Support business and workforce planning activities
- Facilitate service delivery for HR programs and services, guiding, directing and supporting appropriate HR teams as necessary
- Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR COE groups and client leadership teams to develop solutions and programs
- Manages and resolves complex employee/labour relations issues
- Conducts or coordinates effective, thorough and objective investigations
- Provides guidance and input on restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
Business HR Team:
- Champion the HR Op Model by ensuring the activation and deployment of talent programs across the business
- Act as a mentor and first point of escalation for a team of Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs)
- Lead strategic projects and play a key role in our ongoing transformation and deployment of corporate initiatives
- Provide input to the development and recommendation of strategies for improvement to increase productivity and efficiencies in the Business HR team, HR function and broader organization
Enterprise-wide Initiatives:
- May participate in and/or lead special projects as assigned
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Partners with the legal/corporate ethics department as needed/required
- Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation
- Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success
- Follows up to ensure training objectives are met

Preferred Education and Experience:
- 7 to 10 years' experience resolving complex employee relations/HR issues
- University degree in Industrial Relations or Human Resources Management, or combination of education and relevant experience
- Demonstrated success providing HR consultative support to leaders across multiple levels
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, recruitment, training & development, compensation, federal and provincial employment laws, WSIB/sick leave/LTD programs/knowledge.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, influencing, facilitation and communication skills with the ability to work across functional lines at many levels
- Keen interest in continual learning and staying current on key trends in the HR and business industries, leveraging insights to create and implement solutions
- Collaborative team player, supporting other members of the team in achieving business objectives and providing optimal solutions
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and navigating complex scenarios, adapting with agility while staying focused on the end goal
