Job Function:
This role sits within Hydro One’s Enterprise Transformation Office (ETO), a strategic function responsible for integrating, enabling, and accelerating execution of the company’s highest‑priority projects and strategic initiatives. ETO ensures that enterprise efforts are aligned with Hydro One’s strategy, productivity and cost‑management objectives, and culture‑transformation goals.
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Change the Sr Manager is accountable for leading the delivery of organizational change strategies and plans for medium and large-scale enterprise transformation initiatives. The Sr Manager provides subject matter expertise, leads OCM workstreams, and supports project teams—while escalating major risks, alignment issues, and strategic decisions to the Director for direction.
General Accountabilities:
- Lead the end-to-end organizational change management delivery on large to medium scale business transformation / technical / IT projects, working closely with business, IT and external vendors or partners.
- Partner with executive leadership to embed new ways of working and drive cultural evolution aligned with Hydro One’s strategic objectives.
- Support the Director, Strategic Change in changing the company culture and/or ways of working as part of strategic initiatives or projects to support the strategic objectives of a Shareholder‑owned company.
- Support Lines of Business in realizing business value from major projects through changing management techniques designed to prepare and support the organization and employees in pursuit of expected value.
- Support enterprise transformation initiatives by developing frameworks and tools that enable consistent Organizational Change Management (OCM) practices across the company.
- Demonstrate visible leadership to develop and maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
- Create value for our customers by designing appropriate programs to ensure Strategic goals and/or Business Cases are achieved (as they relate to people’s adoption expectations).
- Create a culture and maintain a work environment where employees can be fully engaged.
- Participate in the design, build, implementation and sustainment of the Change Management, Center of Excellence/Department within Human Resources.
- Contribute to the design and sustainment of the Change Management Center of Excellence within the Enterprise Transformation Office.
- Identify, recommend and design/implement approved change management programs by working collaboratively with the Director, Strategic Change and other senior LOB leadership teams including project sponsors (VPs and below).
- Direct and oversee Change Management program activities including facilitation of meetings and working sessions as well as assigning appropriate resources.
- Ensure that appropriate Change Management activities are conducted for the project to go live with minimal impacts on business operations, and maximum adoption for the future state.
- Share oversight responsibility for implementing and maintaining the enterprise Change Management methodology.
- Manage Change Management program work plans, budget and status reports for corporate projects (with internal or external resources, or both).
- Coach/Mentor Change Management Delivery resources and assist them in competency and career development.
- Coach and mentor project leaders and stakeholders to build internal OCM capability and foster a culture of adaptability and resilience.
- Identify and communicate cross-area or cross-release issues that may affect business areas related to corporate projects.
Specific Accountabilities:
OCM Vendor Management
- Oversee and manage relationships with external vendors providing OCM services, ensuring they meet project requirements and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Evaluate vendor performance and implement strategies for improvement, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Write RFPs, evaluate proposals, negotiate contracts and manage budgets related to OCM vendor services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality outcomes in alignment with organizational objectives.
Leadership in OCM for Medium to Large Projects
- Lead the OCM workstream for large to medium business transformation projects, developing and implementing change management strategies that facilitate smooth transitions and minimize resistance.
- Build trusting relationships to drive project outcomes and advise/coach leaders and staff to be change leaders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the impact of changes on stakeholders and develop tailored communication and training plans.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of OCM initiatives, using data-driven insights to refine strategies and enhance outcomes.
Selection Criteria:
- Advanced working level knowledge of Change Management methodologies and deliverables for both enterprise-level change and individual change journeys. Preferably Prosci certified or equivalent.
- Strong experience in strategic change, communications, adult learning, training methods, and user adoption in both corporate and field settings.
- Experience planning and implementing OCM strategies for multi-year, business transformation, engineering, or technical operational projects with a technology component.
- Experience within electric utilities, energy, infrastructure, government, or other regulated industries preferred.
- Solid understanding of project management principles and project lifecycles, especially for technology-driven change.
- Intermediate level of knowledge contracting for and managing external resources.
Essential Experience:
- Completion of a university degree and up to 10–15 years of OCM experience.
- 8+ years leading Change Management programs and delivering successful OCM outcomes.
- Experience in delivering projects that cross people, process and technology domains.
- Experience overseeing multiple projects and teams.
- Utility, energy, infrastructure, or other large asset‑based industry experience preferred.
- SAP Transformation and/or SAP S/4HANA experience preferred.
