Job Summary: 

Join our dynamic Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) Planning & Intake team as a Co-op Student, contributing to the budgeting and planning of Hydro One’s IT investments and personnel. As a vital member of the team, you will gain experience in resource and asset planning, process management, and communication within a fast-paced IT environment. 

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in preparing the annual budget and multi-year business plan for the IT department through the gathering of project and staffing forecasts. 

  • Collaborate with IT project managers to gather inputs for planning and ensure accuracy. 

  • Prioritize investments using agreed upon criteria. Maintain list of lower priority initiatives and reprioritize as appropriate. 

  • Maintain up-to-date investment planning records in the corporation-wide planning tool, Copperleaf AIP. 

  • Analyze variances between plans, forecasts and actuals, and prepare summary reports for management. 

  • Update and maintain rolling budgeting, forecasting, redirection and plan records for an up-to-date view of the multi-year investment plan. 

  • Perform data validation and reconciliation between different sources of planning and resource data. 

  • Assist in preparing dashboards and presentations for budget reviews and planning meetings. 

  • Help identify areas for improvement to processes, modeling, reporting (e.g. Power BI dashboards) to enhance overall team efficiency and effectiveness.  

 

Technical Skill Requirements: 

  • Proficient in using Excel for data analysis, reporting, and maintaining planning and budgeting-related documentation. 

  • Proficient with Office 365 including Outlook, Teams and SharePoint is required. 

  • Experience using Microsoft Power BI and generative AI (e.g. Copilot) is an asset 

 

Soft Skill Requirements: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members and project stakeholders. 

  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment and contribute to the overall success of the DTS team. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify opportunities for planning optimization. 

  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. 

 

Required Education Level: 

Enrollment in a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) program studying at least one of the following streams: Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field. 

 

Additional Qualifications: 

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced IT environment. 

  • Proactive attitude and ability to take initiative. 

  • Time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.

The base salary for this role considers a variety of factors, including candidates' knowledge, skills, experience, education, and any applicable collective agreement requirements for union-represented positions.
