Vice President Stakeholder Relations
Hydro One is Ontario’s largest electricity transmission and distribution service provider with 1.5 million customers, $32.8 billion in assets as of December 31, 2023, and revenues of approximately $7.8 billion in 2023. They have been energizing Ontario for more than 110 years. Their service territory covers approximately 90% of the province. They also generate and distribute electricity to 22 remote communities primarily in Ontario's far north. They distribute electricity across Ontario predominantly rural customers, or approximately 26% of the total number of customers in Ontario.
In November 2015, they became a publicly traded company on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX: H) and are deeply committed to the communities where they live and work through community investment, sustainability and diversity initiatives.
Hydro One is at the centre of the energy transition in Ontario, the Vice President Stakeholder Relations will play a key role in helping to advance the mission both inside and outside of the business. Partnering with stakeholders, the Vice President will operate at the nexus of developing the broader department strategy with the SVP, Corporate Affairs and executing that strategy through their team of top performing subject matter experts. The VP will be accountable for elevating the function strategically, ensuring it drives value and positive outcomes. The Vice President, Stakeholder Relations will effectively work with community groups, government, technical experts and leaders within the organization to ultimately deliver the mission of Hydro One.
The ideal candidate will bring strong political acumen and experience in managing relationships with government and regulatory agencies. An experienced people leader, the Vice President will be able to build high performing and caring teams while creating a team culture grounded on collaboration and sharing of best practice.
The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree in a related field and has 15 years of related government relations, public relations and communications experience. They possess strong political acumen and have the ability to influence outcomes as well as develop strong and effective teams. The VP has experience working in a large complex company would be highly desirable coupled with the ability to manager relationships with government and navigate complex challenges with multiple stakeholders is a must. They possess excellent business acumen with experience in energy sector as well as an understanding of the regulatory process both being valuable assets to possess.
